Privacy Policy

This policy covers the SMC ChartSense practice app on Google Play (Android), the website (smcchartsense.com), our Telegram channel, our TradingView indicators, our YouTube and social accounts, and products listed on Gumroad.

For the Google Play app: the SMC ChartSense practice app is covered by sections 1–6, 8 and 14–18. It has no user accounts and collects no personal information. Developer: Sushant Sehgal.

SMC ChartSense (“we”, “our”, “us”) is committed to being transparent about how our apps, website, channel and products handle your information. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and how you can control it.

Note: two SMC ChartSense products are account-based and have their own privacy notices, which this document does not replace — Backtest Pro at app.smcchartsense.com, and Order Flow Lab at orderflow.smcchartsense.com. Unlike the practice app, both require an email address to create an account. Order Flow Lab’s notice is also shown in-app at sign-in.

Short version: The practice app does not collect your name, email, phone, or location — your scores stay on your device. It shows ads via Google AdMob, which uses your device’s Advertising ID, a non-personal identifier you can reset anytime. The website uses Google Analytics for anonymous traffic insights. Our Telegram channel, YouTube, Instagram and Gumroad are run by those companies, who handle your data under their own policies; we see only what they show a channel owner or seller. Our two account-based web apps collect an email address and are covered by their own privacy terms.

1. Information We Do NOT Collect

The SMC ChartSense practice app has no user accounts and does not connect to any servers operated by us. We do NOT collect:

  • Personal information (name, email, phone number, address)
  • Account credentials (the practice app has no accounts)
  • Precise location or GPS data
  • Contacts, SMS, or call logs
  • Financial information, payment details, or simulator practice data
  • Photos, videos, or files from your device
  • Microphone or camera access

The app contains optional links to our website and our separate web apps, which open in your device’s browser if you choose to tap them. Following them is optional and does not change the fact that the practice app itself has no account and does not transmit your data to us.

2. Information Collected by the App

To support free access and keep the practice app running smoothly, the app collects limited technical information through standard Google services:

  • Advertising ID — A non-personal, user-resettable identifier provided by your Android device, used by Google AdMob to serve ads. You can reset or limit this at any time (see Section 5).
  • App interactions — Anonymous events such as ad impressions and clicks, collected by Google AdMob for reporting and fraud prevention.
  • Crash logs & diagnostics — If the app crashes, Google Play automatically collects anonymous crash reports and performance data so we can fix bugs. This never includes personal information.

All of this data is transmitted to Google over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. We do not operate our own backend for the practice app; we only access aggregate data through Google Play Console.

3. Data Stored on Your Device

Your progress — SMC Training scores, candlestick and chart pattern practice results, Speed Round best times, Weekly Challenge times, Pro Mode completed charts, and review preferences — is stored locally on your device only. It is never uploaded to any server operated by us and is not shared with any third party.

To delete this data: uninstall the app, or go to your device’s Settings → Apps → SMC ChartSense → Storage → Clear data.

4. Advertising via Google AdMob

To keep the SMC ChartSense practice app completely free — including all 200+ Pro Mode historical chart scenarios and unlimited practice — the app displays interstitial (full-screen) advertisements served by Google AdMob, a subsidiary of Google LLC.

What AdMob collects:

  • Your device’s Advertising ID (a resettable, non-personal identifier)
  • General device information (device model, Android version, screen size, language)
  • Approximate location derived from IP address (country / city level; not precise GPS)
  • Ad impression and click events

Why:

  • To deliver relevant ads and measure their performance
  • To prevent ad fraud and invalid clicks
  • For anonymous analytics (fill rate, eCPM, etc.)

Sharing: AdMob shares this data with Google and its advertising partners as part of the ad auction process. It is never sold to unrelated third parties by us.

5. Your Advertising Choices

Android gives you direct control over ad personalization:

  • Reset your Advertising ID — Settings → Privacy → Ads → Reset advertising ID. This gives you a fresh, unrelated identifier.
  • Opt out of personalized ads — Settings → Privacy → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization. You will still see ads, but they won’t be tailored to your interests.
  • Delete your Advertising ID entirely (Android 12+) — Settings → Privacy → Ads → Delete advertising ID. Apps will receive a string of zeros instead.

These controls are managed by Android/Google, not by us. They apply to all apps on your device.

6. Google Play Store

When you download the app from Google Play, Google collects standard information per their own privacy policy (downloads, device type, Android version, crash reports). This is provided to us only in aggregate form through the Google Play Console and cannot identify individual users.

7. Website (smcchartsense.com)

Our website is hosted on WordPress.com. WordPress may use cookies and collect standard web analytics data (page views, referrer URLs, browser type) as part of its default hosting. For details, refer to Automattic’s Privacy Policy.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics on our website to understand how visitors interact with our pages — which pages are visited, how long users stay, and where traffic comes from. This helps us improve content and user experience.

Google Analytics may collect the following via cookies and similar technologies:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • Referral source (how you found our website)
  • General geographic location (country/city level, not precise)
  • Browser type, device type, and screen resolution
  • Anonymous usage patterns and session information

This data is processed by Google and presented to us in aggregate form only. We cannot identify individual visitors. We do not use Google Analytics for ad personalization or to build user profiles.

Opt out: You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by adjusting cookie settings in your browser.

8. Cookies

Our website uses cookies from the following sources:

  • WordPress.com — Default platform cookies for basic site functionality.
  • Google Analytics — Analytics cookies (such as _ga and _gid) used to distinguish visitors and track session information. These do not store personal information.

The SMC ChartSense Android app itself does not use browser cookies.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may not affect the core functionality of our website.

9. YouTube Channel

Our educational videos are hosted on YouTube (@SMCChartSense). When you watch our videos, YouTube/Google collects data per their privacy policies. We have access to aggregate channel analytics (views, watch time, demographics) but cannot identify individual viewers.

10. Telegram Channel

Our order flow reads are published on a Telegram channel. Telegram is operated by Telegram FZ-LLC and your use of it is governed by Telegram’s Privacy Policy. We do not control what Telegram collects.

As the channel owner, what we can see is limited to:

  • The total subscriber count and aggregate view counts per post
  • The username and display name of anyone who comments publicly, votes visibly in a poll, or messages us directly — the same information any other member of the channel can see

We cannot see the phone numbers or contact details of subscribers, and we do not export, store, or build any mailing list from channel membership. You can leave the channel at any time, and Telegram’s own privacy settings control what other users, including us, can see about your account.

11. Gumroad, TradingView and Instagram

Purchases of our products are processed by Gumroad, which acts as the seller of record and handles your payment details under its own privacy policy. We never see or store your card number or bank details. We receive the buyer email address and purchase record so we can grant access and provide support.

Our indicators are published on TradingView, and access is granted to a TradingView username you provide. TradingView operates that platform under its own privacy policy. We store the usernames granted access so we can manage and revoke it, and nothing else.

Our Instagram account is operated on a platform run by Meta under its own privacy policy. We see aggregate follower and reach statistics, and the public profile of anyone who comments or messages us.

12. Order Flow Lab (orderflow.smcchartsense.com)

Order Flow Lab has user accounts and its own privacy notice, shown in-app at sign-in and available at orderflow.smcchartsense.com/legal. In summary: it stores your email address, your drill progress, and — if you purchase — your licence key and receipt email. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and never stored by us.

Processing is carried out by Supabase (database and authentication), Hetzner (server hosting) and Gumroad (payments). The Lab contains no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts.

13. Third-Party Services Summary

In addition to your own device, data described in this policy may be processed by the following third parties:

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external services. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.

14. Children’s Privacy

SMC ChartSense is intended for users aged 18 and above. Our apps and content are not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect any information from minors. If you believe someone under 18 has used our app or website, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

15. Data Retention

For the practice app and website we do not directly retain personal data, because we do not collect any. Our two account-based web apps retain account data as described in their own privacy terms. Google AdMob, Google Play, and Google Analytics retain data per Google’s own retention policies, as do Telegram, Gumroad, TradingView and Meta for their platforms. App scores and progress stored on your device remain until you clear the app data or uninstall the app.

16. Your Rights

Depending on your region (GDPR in the EU, CCPA in California, DPDP Act in India, etc.), you may have the right to:

  • Access information collected about you
  • Request correction or deletion
  • Opt out of personalized advertising (see Section 5)
  • Withdraw consent

For the practice app and website we do not collect personal data directly, so most requests should be directed to the relevant third party (Google, WordPress.com, Telegram, Gumroad, TradingView, Meta). If you hold an account with one of our web apps, you can request deletion of that account and its data by emailing us from your registered address. 17. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of our apps, website, channel or content after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
